Imagine a problem that can be seen in 2% to 20% of children. This means it can be found in one or two students in every classroom, or even in one out of every five children. The problem for these children, who have no physical differences, is simply the lack of ability to sustain attention. Due to this seemingly simple inadequacy, they can develop many simple or complex behavioral problems. Because they cannot focus their attention on what is being said, they cannot fulfill the requested tasks as if they understood nothing or forgot everything.
Play Attention is a device developed by NASA for the flight simulations of astronauts. When applied to children, a visible change is observed in a total of 3.5 months. In this study, thanks to a bracelet worn on the child's arm, the moments when the child gathers and sustains attention are visible in the game. As long as the child gives attention to the game, the game progresses; the moment the child's attention is distracted, the game stops. Thus, the child's attention can be observed concretely on the computer by both the child and the psychologist. This game is controlled not by a mouse, but by brain waves.
While the game improves attention, it can accelerate the child's development in many areas.
Scientific research has proven the success of Play Attention. Its aim is to minimize "more focusing, less fidgeting" behaviors. Due to weak focus, children with ADHD may struggle in exams and may not be academically successful. However, concentration is very important for learning. Lack of focus reduces the person's ability to capture and retain information in the mind and makes adaptation at school difficult.
When Play Attention is applied regularly, it causes change in children with attention deficit or hyperactivity. We can describe the changes as follows;
- Listening for longer periods
- Being able to do homework alone at home
- Decrease in impulsivity and hyperactivity
- Being able to complete a task started
- Improvement in memory
- Self-control
- Increased harmony among peer groups
- Improvement in visual organization
- Following rules
- It is recommended for children and adults with an IQ score of 65 and above who have attention problems.
- For permanent changes, the user must use the program for at least 40 sessions. The coach may decide to let the student leave the program after 40-60 sessions. Even if the user shows expertise in the skills taught earlier, permanent changes occur between 40-60 sessions.
- Significant long-term improvements are achieved with 30-45 minute sessions, 2-3 times a week.
- Surveys conducted in the last 4 years have detected 91% satisfaction.
