Perhaps one of the most important reasons delaying your ability to have a baby is your Vitamin D deficiency. Yes, perhaps for such a simple reason, you are unable to hold your baby in your arms. If you walked for half an hour a day, “met the sunlight,” and took Vitamin D supplements, perhaps every step you take would bring you closer to “reuniting with your baby.”
How?
Vitamin D is not only a regulator of calcium metabolism as commonly believed, but also a kind of immune system balancer. Vitamin D deficiency can lead to many undesirable consequences, ranging from reduced resistance to respiratory tract infections such as colds and flu, to negatively affecting the course of breast, prostate, and pancreatic cancers.
A DECLARATION OF WAR IN THE BODY
When your body is deprived of Vitamin D, it may almost “declare war on itself”! Your immune system may begin to damage your own organs (autoimmune diseases). The course of diseases such as asthma, allergies, inflammatory bowel disease, and multiple sclerosis may worsen. The progression of Type 2 diabetes may also deteriorate. In fact, scientific publications suggest that Vitamin D deficiency causes an increase in overall mortality rates, especially in cardiovascular diseases.
Other studies have also shown that women are less fortunate than men in terms of Vitamin D… Vitamin D deficiency is more common in women. Its level in the body is also lower in women compared to men.
IT REDUCES FERTILITY
Until recently, while tests were being performed, the depletion of this “source of life,” often overlooked as “just a vitamin,” can actually prevent women from fulfilling their desire to become mothers.
In the recent evaluations we conducted before IVF treatment for our patients coming to İRENBE, we also encountered this striking result. We almost never came across a female patient whose Vitamin D level was within the normal range. In all of our patients, we started treatment only after Vitamin D supplementation.
IT DELAYS TREATMENT
So, let us explain why Vitamin D deficiency negatively affects female reproduction and IVF treatment; Vitamin D deficiency causes a decrease in embryo implantation and pregnancy rates. Correcting Vitamin D levels in IVF treatments increases the response to treatment in patients with diminished ovarian reserve. It also eliminates the risk of excessive stimulation.
In women with polycystic ovary syndrome, when Vitamin D levels are raised to normal, the excessive elevation in anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH – the hormone indicating ovarian reserve) decreases, and balancing ovulation treatment becomes easier. Again, in this disease, Vitamin D deficiency increases insulin resistance and further worsens ovulation irregularities. It raises the risks of hirsutism (excessive hair growth), increased androgen (male hormone) levels, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases to higher levels.
In cases of deficiency, repeated pregnancy losses also increase. It is thought that this condition is related to the imbalance of immune cells found in the inner layer of the uterus.
And what about pregnancy…
Vitamin D deficiency during pregnancy also creates a negative picture. It causes an increase in gestational diabetes, preeclampsia (pregnancy poisoning), bacterial vaginosis (foul-smelling vaginal infection that may also cause preterm birth), preterm delivery, and low birth weight babies.
So, what should we do…
First of all, a woman—whose nature is “fertility and giving life”—should not cut off her connection with “nature,” that is, with the sun, which is her strongest bond…
However, when performing IVF treatment, time means everything to us. Therefore, we must use our time wisely, and instead of waiting for women’s “meetings with the sun,” we speed up the solution to this problem with Vitamin D ampoules…
Yes, go out into nature, walk, sunbathe for at least 10 minutes so that sunlight reaches your face and arms, but in addition to this, use Vitamin D supplements. And get ready to open your arms to your baby…
In the treatments we apply at İRENBE, besides our frozen embryo transfer policy, solving the problem of Vitamin D deficiency has also had a major effect on the significant increase in our pregnancy rates in recent years.
We realized that our babies were being hesitant to come into the world when their mothers did not receive the Vitamin D generously offered by the sun, so we accelerated the process.
With a simple test and a few ampoules of Vitamin D, we reduced the financial and emotional burden of IVF treatment and reunited mothers with their babies.
New mothers and babies with “sun-like smiles” on their faces joined the ever-growing family photo of İRENBE every single day.
