Dear Ms. Ceyda is one of our working mothers. She says that her professional life has never created a disadvantage in her relationship with her daughter or in the time she allocates to her. The mother and daughter, who love spending time together, have certain rituals such as reading books every night before going to bed.

What did you feel the moment you found out you would become a mother? How did you learn it? Who was with you?

Excitement, happiness, fear, anxiety... I think at first, one cannot fully comprehend what is happening. I learned it over the phone because I had a blood test done. I was at work and a close colleague was with me. Not knowing what to do, I first called my husband, then my family.

Can you tell us a bit about your pregnancy and birth process?

I had a very comfortable pregnancy. In fact, I worked actively until the 37th week. Since the last week coincided with New Year's Eve, we scheduled a cesarean section to avoid any risks. One day after confirming the date, I suddenly started having contractions while watching a movie at home. It was Saturday and there was heavy traffic due to New Year's Eve. I can say my husband was more anxious than I was. When we arrived at the hospital and learned that the process had just begun and it would be a long and risky birth, we decided on a cesarean. Both the birth and the postpartum period were quite comfortable for me. Trusting your doctor is very important in this regard.

How is it to be a working mother? How do you allocate time to your child? What are the advantages or disadvantages?

Honestly, I like being a working mother. It has never been a disadvantage for me. From the moment I come home from work, we have certain rituals with my daughter. For example, no matter what, we read a book every night before bed. On weekends, we always do something together as a family—this could be watercolor painting, cooking, or going to the park or seaside... What matters is not just spending time, but the quality of that time and the sharing between you.

What are your dreams and hopes for your child?

My biggest wish is for my daughter to be healthy and happy. I hope she grows up as a socially aware, sensible individual who loves her country, and that her country also has a peaceful future.

Are there differences between your motherhood and your mother’s?

Of course, there are differences; we live in a rapidly evolving era. There is even a difference between mothers of 2013 and 2017. However, the most important thing in motherhood is experience. We are a close-knit, large family; this is our biggest advantage. Since my daughter was born, I understand my mother better and try to take her as an example.

WHY İRENBE?

From the moment I first stepped into İrenbe, during a very difficult period, both the nurses and doctors supported me tremendously with their care and positive energy. Trusting your doctor and team is very important in this process. That is why we also chose my daughter's pediatrician from İrenbe.
