Don’t be fooled by how they look like sisters; they are actually mother and daughter… The relationship between dear Ms. Banu and her daughter Lal is truly worth seeing… Preferring to be like a friend to her daughter, Ms. Banu is also a successful educator. She gives educational drama lessons for children and emphasizes how much we can learn from children by saying, “My daughter became my best teacher.”
What kind of feeling is motherhood?
Motherhood is the beginning of a one-way journey in life. At first, it brings a strong sense of ownership—“this is mine, I brought her into the world”—and later evolves into realizing that she is a separate individual. It is a complex emotional state with intense ups and downs, not easy to balance.
What changed in your life after becoming a mother?
I started learning about myself, observing myself, and transforming what I saw within me. Motherhood, through my daughter reflecting me, helped me find myself. She became my best teacher.
Can you tell us about your pregnancy and birth process?
Due to blood incompatibility, my pregnancy was stressful with the constant risk of losing my baby. However, thanks to Dr. Refik and his team’s knowledge, experience, and kindness, it became reassuring. I felt safe at every visit. Even when early birth was discussed, their priority was always my baby’s health. In the end, I held my daughter in my arms after completing 40 weeks. İrenbe was with me every step of the way.
What did you feel when you first held your child?
It felt like crossing the finish line of a marathon after a long struggle. She was finally in my arms, healthy. I didn’t know what awaited us, but I was excited for the journey.
What do you enjoy doing together?
I don’t think there’s anything we don’t enjoy doing together. Our favorite thing is hugging each other with love and laughing.
What is the best Mother’s Day gift?
I am one of the lucky ones who receives the greatest gift every day when my daughter hugs me with love.
Are there differences between your motherhood and your mother’s?
Yes, many. According to my mother, we are more like friends than mother and daughter.
What are your dreams for your child?
I wish her a happy, peaceful life. I want her to live as she desires, to share, and most importantly to be at peace with herself.
What changed before and after motherhood?
My perspective changed. Motherhood is beautiful but also requires balance and awareness.
How did you meet İRENBE?
Our journey started when Dr. Nurettin and Dr. Refik worked together. İrenbe has always been a place of trust, comfort, and hope for us.
