What kind of feeling is motherhood?
I understood that I had become a mother the moment I held my daughter in my arms and breastfed her. Being a mother means waking up in the sweetest moment of sleep in the middle of the night to feed the baby who is a part of you; staying sleepless for hours so that she can sleep; breastfeeding her every 10 minutes despite the pain so that she is full. It means waiting for days to see her first smile, being happy because her clothes have become too small, and becoming the most peaceful person in the world when she calms down and falls asleep only in your arms while crying loudly... And after smelling that scent once, feeling as if I breathe only through her scent — that is motherhood.
What changed in your life after becoming a mother?
My outlook on life, my priorities, my worries, my reasons for happiness, my sleeping hours, my eating habits... In short, my quality of life changed too.
What did you feel when you held your child in your arms?
Her tiny fingers reaching toward my face and our first hello, the tears running from my eyes as I said “welcome, my angel,” the feeling that only she and I existed in the world... As if the most beautiful baby in the world had been given to you. Hours spent smelling and kissing her endlessly...
